Anise root (Osmorhiza longistylis)

A first for me!  Ok maybe not a first spotting, but definitely a first identifying.  One of the neatest parts of plant identification is honestly, at first so many many plants look similar enough that I don’t really distinguish them and of course I can’t prioritize learning all plants at once.  Then over time as I get to know more and more plants and families, I start identifying more distinctions between species.  It’s an endless source of discovery!   Johnson’s Mound, April 20, 2017
